Uncertainty

Hi!

Welcome everyone!

It gives me great pleasure to announce that this post is yet another collaborative effort. The only difference is that this time, it’s going to be a poetry.

Because, interestingly, this collab has a remarkably similar backstory to my previous joint venture.

For the poem actually came to me in it’s raw, free verse state from my friend/colleague, Dr. Harshali More. And like my sister, she too wanted it ‘proofread’

(Yeah, I am popular. Just deal with it, won’t you?)

And, as usual, I did more than what I had been asked for.

(Okay, so maybe I am being pompous to the point of being a narcissist by now…)

Anyways, by the time I was done ‘editing’ I had ended up modifying the poem well enough to make it virtually unrecognisable from it’s predecessor. And that was how this ‘collab’ was born.

I just hope that you guys think it’s good enough…. because, as always, I have tried adding a bit of a personal spin to it. All feedback appreciated as always! 😊

The Uncertainty

I am the one who crawls inside your head,

burrowing thy subconscious,

Chilling your spine as I descend,

Yes, I am the one harbouring fear!

.

The one making your mind wander in a circle,

making you feel stuck,

Tying your hands with apprehension,

For I am the one breeding frustration!

.

I can make you go mad,

redden you with rage, tormenting thy brain,

Distancing the hearts as I progress,

Yes, I am the one cradling anger!

.

The racing heart, that adrenaline rush,

the pearls of sweat over thy brow,

Transforming your goals into a journey,

For it’s me who makes a challenge one!

.

Those tiny bits of excitement and joy,

the vista of endless possibilities,

Letting you feel top of the world

Yes, I am the one in sync with surprise !

.

The one who keeps you on your path,

pumping you full with curiosity,

Awaiting action for the moments to come,

For it’s me sharing traits with hope !

.

The butterflies in your tummy,

the feeling of elation,

Trusting someone implicitly for life,

Yes, I am the one heralding true love!

.

Well, I have been named more than once,

Then be it ambiguity, a chance, even an ‘I don’t know‘!

Blaming me for thy confusing future,

For it’s me making you think a lot more!

.

But why should you be so certain of things?

When it’s simply no fun, simply no thrill?

Laying the foundation of new beginnings,

It’ll be me bringing opulence to thy!

.

So, hence life to you I advise,

don’t you miss any shade of mine,

‘Cuz if there’s a thing you’d be certain about,

It’ll always be me, THE UNCERTAINTY !

  7. The poem is short but carries a lot of meaning if scrutinized properly.

Such a profound way of writing. Love the beginning part of it( I am the one who crawls inside your head)
and the end part of the poem just made it look real again( It’ll always be me, THE UNCERTAINTY ! )

Thanks for giving me that mindset about emotion as you said in your poem explanation.

And yeah, this collab was the first time the two of us really connected. Although sadly we ended up fighting over whose version was to be published. So she published hers on her blog. And, 5 months later, I published mine over here.

Obviously, we haven’t collaborated since. 🙁
